moloka'i
I spent a couple days in Moloka'i last weekend with some friends - part of a belated Mother's Day gift to myself. The island is small - only 38 miles long - with no stop lights, but somehow there still wasn't enough time to see all the sights. We spent the entire weekend swimming in the ocean, walking through town, listening to local bands, eating too much, laughing, crying, chatting with locals, waiting in a late night line for warm bread, running through the woods and involving ourselves in impromptu photo shoots and haphazard tarot card readings. Best girls weekend ever.

free fall
A friend of mine is moving away, but she had a few things she wanted to do in Hawaii before leaving. When she mentioned sky diving was on the list, I jumped on board just as quick as I could, and the two of us plus another friend did it this week.
Now, I thought it was going to be the best thing ever....but I was wrong. It was even better than the best. It felt like flying, and now I have the added bonus of being able to slip that nonchalant reference into daily conversation. You know, "How was your week?" "Oh, it was alright. Let's see...I did some laundry, caught up on some reading, and uh...jumped out of an airplane over the ocean. You?"

On the way down a guy said to me, "Nice shoes. Very refreshing." I'm not sure what that means, but I liked it.
