The Oddfellows are an organization like the Eagles or Lions or Shriners or something like that. Or were you hoping someone could explain why they wanted to be called that? One time when Dad was working in a little town in Tennessee, the ward met in the Oddfellows Hall. The town was big enough to have Odd fellows, but not big enough to have odd Mormons, apparently.
go on... The more information you are able to come up with, the more prizes I am willing to bestow - including but not limited to a small child...blonde hair, blue eyes, very likeable. I'm sure you'll get on wonderfully.
Hooray! Just what I always wanted--a blond-haired, blue-eyed child! Oh, wait--that's how John came, and look how he turned into a regular teenager anyway.
Chocolate-covered macadamia nuts? Yippee! No further comment needed. Dried plums? Okay, once I figured out how much was plum and how much was pit (and that the part that turned out to be the pit wasn't going to soften up, no matter how long I sucked on it.) Cuttlefish? What did those poor little things ever do to deserve such a fate?

Alright, leave it to my mom to know. Your prize is on its way!
After I left that first message, I looked up Odd Fellows on the internet, and it sounds like they have a pretty laudable philosphy.
