For a paltry ten cents, Charlie will offer you a ride on his back (provided you are between the ages of six months and five years). Charlie resides in Waimanalo and is 55 years old.
We used to ride Charlie's cousins while my mother stood in the check-out line at the grocery store, but they were always named something like "Lightning" or "Widowmaker." I guess that's just another indication of the difference between Hawaii and the mainland.
Yeh, my first riding lessons were on a horse that looked like Charlie--only more paint. However, I don't remember having a dime very often to make the ride more exciting. Could explain why I fell off Amos.(P)
