why it's no fun to hate christmas

I used to hate Christmas. Really. It was my job that did it. For a few [too many] years I was employed by a company which specialized in hanging holiday lights during the winter months. It was always stressful and hectic (and very cold). By the time December rolled around, I'd already been living in Christmas purgatory for months, and didn't want anything to do with the holiday. That ended up working out fine since I also generally became violently ill the moment I had any time off anyway. I could not have been more pleased when that chapter of my life came to a close. I'm also pleased now to be able to enjoy the season for what it is rather than worrying about how perfectly fluffed the garland is...seriously.

I'm happy to report that I had nothing to do with the preparation or installation of any of these lights, nor do I care how evenly spaced they are or whether any of the bulbs have burned out.

Also, I am still (obviously) loving poladroids.

Merry Christmas hon!

I actually prefer crooked lights. Those unnaturally straight ones sort of frighten me.

Milla: happy holidays to you!

JJ: I do too, now. Crazy and crooked is so much more endearing. But for quite some time I was a huge Christmas light snob (as if it's something that actually matters in the slightest). It was a very strange time in my life.

I have to say, that I remember your tirades about non-straight lights, and how tacky you thought the icicle lights were, and as a direct result I have always been too nervous to put up out door lights of my own. I do not want to be judged and pigeon-holed based upon my outdoor "christmas decor".

I still hate icicle lights.
