Today we celebrated Ava's second birthday. I know it sounds cliche, but she actually does look more grown up everyday, and I really can't believe it's been two years already! Here's a look at some of the day's highlights.
Since I normally buy presents well in advance, all of Ava's birthday gifts are safely packed away with the rest of our belongings. Luckily, while out shopping the other evening we stumbled on a cute children's boutique and grabbed a few items so she wouldn't go empty-handed on her actual birthday.
Also, luckily for her she has excellent grandparents who mailed presents here.
We had been planning on spending the day at the beach or some other excellent outdoor activity, but when we got up this morning it was raining and fairly chilly. We ended up just taking a nice walk near the beach.
When we returned home the mail had arrived and along with it more gifts.

Ava is thrilled as she has grown quite tired of the two toys and handful of books we were able to bring along with us on the plane.
I made a rather ridiculous looking cake. Luckily for all of us, it still tasted alright, and Ava didn't seem to care what it looked like.
It was all just a little too much fun?
