road trip in the fall
We took a little road trip to Indiana over the weekend for a family reunion. R's grandma made a lot of food, taught us how to play a tricky card game, and let me pick out a few really old books. Also, Indiana has the best playgrounds. It was the greatest, and this is what it looked like:
In other news, Kennedy Holmes likes my clothes. This pleases me for so many reasons.

oh maryland
Last weekend we got lost in Maryland. It's not something I want to get into due to the incredibly embarrassing nature of our predicament. I'll just say we were looking for a rather well known historical site in the wrong state and leave it at that.
Anyway, we ended up on a rather sparse country highway looking for lunch. Everyone was getting grumpy from hunger and confusion so I almost didn't say anything when we passed the gem of a motel you see here. I'm glad I did though because yellow + pink is an A+ type of combo - especially for rather sparse country highway motels.

lucky day
I fell in love with this dress from Bleubird Vintage some time ago (even blogged about it here), but held off on purchasing it because the price was just a bit steep for my liking. Once it sold, though, I started wishing I had just clicked the buy now when I'd had the chance.
Imagine the delight I felt when I came across this near identical beauty at The Salvo here in Virginia just the other day. Mine gets bonus points for costing less than three dollars. Hip hip!
the one that got away. sniff.

Frying Pan Park & Kidwell Farms -
I don't understand the name, but it's free and there are baby animals.

capital idea
This is what I looked like last Saturday. I can't put my finger on why exactly, but this photo reminds me of a vacation. Maybe I feel it's a very touristy outfit I'm wearing, or perhaps it has more to do with the trees. Like I said, no explanation. Sometimes you just get certain reaction to a certain something and though the synapses in your brain tell you there's a link, you lack the ability to follow it. Here comes the segue...
I'm going on vacation. R has been working in Washington DC for the last month or so and since we like being together better than we like being apart I'm going there too (and so is A). According to the very helpful estimate supplied to me yesterday, we'll be back sometime between October and January. Hrm.

more fakes
While my heart still beats strong for poladroid, I've found another way to make my digital shots look grainy (i.e. dreamy) and dated. Its name is rollip, and it is awesome.

career goals
I would really like to become an artist because when you're an artist you get to do things like make gigantic horse sculptures out of steel scraps you find, and then people will pay to come see them in a museum. Yes, I do believe that's something I'd like to do.
(This particular gigantic horse made of found steel was done by Deborah Butterfield, and is housed at The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu.)
