Here's a little preview of just some of the brand spankin' new (old) gems set to hit Goodwiu Vintage in the next week:

do something today
I'm guessing most of you have heard of David Horvitz (and his list of things for sale) by this time since he's been making the blog rounds for awhile now. Still, maybe you didn't know that he also has a lot of ideas for things that you should be doing. New ideas are posted here almost daily so there's no time to waste. Run along and get started...
By the way, I'm really excited about trying the camera thing. Leave me a comment if you're willing to let me send you one.

p.s. I learned about this info via BOOOOOOOM! - it's a good one. Head that way if you get a chance.

the definitions that make us
I know the photographic dictionary made the blog rounds several months ago, but I'm still quite smitten with the idea of a dictionary of images and all the lovely photos that have made their way into it.
p.s. I especially like this one because images of bison always make me think of my dear friend and business parter, Julie. She's a gem.

p.p.s. Did you know that the W in Goodwiu stands for wisent? If you're unsure as to why that is a related topic, click on the image to view it in a larger size so you can read the definition.

the best of luck, the worst of luck
The other day at the Goodwill I stumbled across the most amazing find - three (1, 2, 3) perfect pairs of lovely unworn Minnetonka moccasins. Best of luck. Sadly, my grown up feet won't fit into children sized moccasins - no matter how perfect. Worst of luck.
Of course I bought them all anyway.

obsessed
I've been spending a lot of time using kuler to create a catalogue of color combinations from moments in my life. It's true. I am. That way if, for instance, I ever want to know what color scheme would be appropriate for a party to celebrate the events of say January ninth of this year around 9:30 am...I'll know (and now you will too - it's the top one).
Make your own (color combos, not bizarre catalogue of life moments - unless you want to) or peruse the work of others here.

by the way
It was our anniversary last Saturday.
I've been married to the above fellow for seven years.
Huzzah.
Proof we were meant to be:
This year both R and I independently classified a particular cough syrup's taste as a combination of black licorice and death. As far as I know, we are the only people to do so. I'm thinking that means something, yes?

nekkid
I never have naked dreams. It seems like everyone does - but I don't. Until last night. I left A asleep in a large building while I ran home to grab my keys. For some reason I had been fine to go out naked, but didn't want to go back into my own building without some clothes on. It was all very troublesome. Luckily, I realized I was actually wearing a large men's button down. I figured if I buttoned it up and walked very carefully, I could make it cover my bum and pass it off as a dress. Problem solved.
Now tell me what this means.

kamanele park
The weather has been getting warmer and warmer lately, and it's been raining less and less frequently. To celebrate, we've been trying to spend as much time out of doors as possible. A couple days ago, after picking A up from preschool, we headed straight for one of our favorite parks in Manoa to spend a couple hours running, jumping, and climbing trees.
p.s. I'm completely smitten with this photo R took of the sunshine through the trees. Isn't it lovely?

birthday
0123Today was A's birthday. We celebrated with a lot of friends, a lot of fun, and a lot of food. During the festivities A changed her outfit at least once, got a band together with some friends, and danced around with a bucket on her head. In other words, the evening was a success.
p.s. My favorite thing about this last year is that A gave up diapers completely...even at night. I'm so pleased to be done with that.

book by its cover
I know you're not supposed to, but my favorite way to choose a new book is by looking at the cover. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. I recently found out about The Book Cover Archive, and have been spending a lot of time browsing through the pages of covers they have on file.
p.s. The Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book of all time. I tend to read it all the way through at least once a year, and sometimes when I'm bored or in the mood I'll pick it up and flip through reading snippets of chapters here and there. My copy looks like the one on top - though doesn't look nearly as nice. I like that cover, but for a long time (like years) I've wanted to have a copy with the cover on the bottom as well. I've come close to buying one on several occasions, but always stop myself because I feel silly buying a second copy of a book I already own.
