prepare to be pleased
Take ten minutes out of your day. You deserve it.
If you've finished and still have time to spare, might I recommend clicking here or here. I'm sure they're good too. It's not as if I would know for certain. That would mean I would have had to spend the last thirty minutes watching silly videos online. I've no time for such frivolous things. Still, if you do, you should.
(Thanks to this lady for the invitation.)

this made my night
We went for frozen yogurt tonight. It was the best part of my day. That is, until I saw this little pearl of wisdom on the wall. Then that was the best part of my day.
Oh Upchuck, how did you get to be so amazing?

more rainy day photos
Taken during an evening walk several months ago -
we had an umbrella but it did little good.
The wind blew the rain sideways and the gutters were full.

something you probably didn't know
I was voted "most likely to be late to her own funeral" by my high school class. I was not present to receive the award.

comings and goings
Tomorrow we will have one set of friends leaving (boo!) and another set coming (yay!). Good news for everyone involved - according to this, the first set of friends are headed back to the happiest state in the U.S. while the second set will be coming to the second happiest state in the U.S. Everyone should be pleased.
p.s. Thanks to Grace for the info.

strange things afoot
I first learned about the Silhouette Masterpiece Theatre by Wilhelm Staehle via Design*Sponge (if memory serves) some time ago, but lost the link when I switched to a new laptop. Thanks to Hollister Hovey, I found and fell in love with the collection again. These images in particular seemed appropriate given the date. See more here.
By the way, is anyone else weirdly excited that we've had a Friday the 13th for two months in a row now? No? Oh, me either.

more little notes
Dear Madam,
Remember tonight when you saw us on our walk? You were very kind to offer your half eaten bag of candy to us in the middle of the cross walk. I'm not going to lie, it was a hard offer to refuse - I'm a sucker for sour gummies. Still, you have to admit, accepting candy from strangers is a no no. If you really wanted to entice me, you would have gone with mini livestock - just a tip for the future.
Love,
C
Dear Honolulu Peeps,
South Street is rife with folks just dying to give you fun things. Head that way if you can hang.
Love,
C

a little note
Dear Sir,
Remember the other night when we passed on the street? I could tell before we even got close that you had something for us. You didn't even say anything, just held it out. I don't blame Ava for being too nervous to take it out of your hand. Let's be honest, it's a little bit frightening taking presents out of the hands of a complete stranger. Still, I'm glad you offered it to me so that I could take it for her. She does love it. And it loves her. They've already been through a lot together - evening strolls, dinnertime chats, rocking horse rides, and even as I type they've insisted on curling up in bed together for the night. So, thank you, Sir, for that silent and strange exchange. You chose the right girl to pass a pig to.
Love,
C

things that have happened
yesterday: Went out with some old friends and met some new friends who are in town. The evening went down with a whole heap load of chatter, laughter and garlic fries...so things were good. The only thing that could have made the night better was if R would have wowed the crowd with a lively story about squeezing a kangaroo. Wait...he did.
today: Was forced very much against my will to wake up at an unreasonably early hour to drive R to the airport. I know it doesn't really make a difference since neither R nor I work regular Monday thru Friday jobs, but the the fact that it's a Saturday made me feel especially indignant about the early wake-up call. Bleh.
